MEMORIES, STORIES, TAKING PART
Participation of older people through reflective interviews and the establishment of narrative cafés
In old age, the preoccupation with one's own past and the need to share memories of one's life with other people in conversations become particularly important. Mutual exchange in conversations and the sharing of personal memories from past periods of your life make a significant contribution to increasing well-being and satisfaction in old age. This has already been proven in various scientific studies.
A long-term goal of the sub-project is the inclusion of life review interviews which provide older people with the opportunity to reflect on their lives. We provide multipliers in senior citizen work (e.g. in senior citizen facilities, meeting centres, social institutions etc.) Materials are available for conducting life review interviews. These reflective interviews should also be used for exchange between generations. The establishment of narrative cafés can strengthen acceptance and interest between the generations and counteract prejudices.
